The graph of a rational function cannot have both a horizontal and oblique asymptote.
\This is because a horizontal asymptote will only appear when the greatest exponent of the numerator is either equal or less than the greatest exponent of the denominator and an oblique asyptote will only appear when the greatest exponent of the numerator is greater.
