Elimination method :

Given  equations are

7x - 6y  = 22  ---> (1)

12x - 8y = 1  ---> (2)

Multiply 8 to (1) and multiply 6 to (2).

7x - 6y  = 22  ---> (1) * 8

12x - 8y = 1  ---> (2) * 6

Then the equations are,

56x - 48y  = 176 ---> (3)

72x - 48y = 6     ---> (4)

To eliminate the y value,Subtract (3) from (4).

72x - 48y = 6      ---> (4)

56x - 48y  = 176  ---> (3)

-    +          -

__________

16x = - 170

⇒ x  = - 170/16 = - 85/8.

Substitute the x value in equation (1).

7(- 85/8) - 6y  = 22

- 535 - 48y = 176

- 48y = 176 + 595

y = - 771/48

y = - 771/48.

Solution x  = - 85/8, y  = - 771/48.
