3[p + 6] = 5p + 4

Combine like terms  using distributive property

3p + 18 = 5p + 4

Subtract 5 from each side.

3p - 5p + 18 = 5p - 5p + 4

-2p + 18 = 4

Subtract 18 from each side.

-2p + 18 - 18 = 4 - 18

-2 = -14

Divide each side by negative 2.

-2p / -2 = -14 / -2

Solution = 7.

Check :

3[p + 6] = 5p + 4

if = 7

3[7 + 6] = 5(7) + 4

3(13) = 35 + 4

39 = 39.
