Write the equations in slope-intercept form y = mx + b, where m is slope and b is y-intercept.

The equation is- 3y = - 2x - 8.

Divide each side by negative 3.

y = ( 2/3)x + (8/3).

Compare the equation with slope-intercept form y = mx + b.

slope =  2/3 and y-intercept is 8/3.

y-intercept is 8/3, so the line crosses the y-axis at (0, 8/3)

Using slope find the next point.

Slope = rise/run = 2/3

Start at point (0, 8/3), move 2 units up and 3 units right, then plot the point (14/3, 3).

Graph :

graph for the equation - x - 2y = 8

Check your graph, that means replace the point (3, 14/3) with (14/3, 3).

Start at point (0, 8/3), move 2 units up and 3 units right, then plot the point (3, 14/3).
