The coordinates are (7, 4) and (x , 12) and the slope (m) = - 2.

Slope of a line (m ) = ( y ₂ - y ₁ ) / ( x ₂ - x ₁ ).

Substitute the values of ( x ₁, y ₁) = (7, 4), ( x ₂, y ₂ ) = ( x , 12) and m = - 2 in m = ( y ₂ - y ₁ ) / ( x ₂ - x ₁ ).

- 2 = (12 - 4) / (x - 7)

- 2 = 8 / (x - 7)

- 2(x - 7) = 8

- 2x + 14 = 8

- 2x = 8 - 14 = - 6

x = - 6 / - 2

x = 3.

Therefore, the value of x = 3.
