How do you graph 6x+4y+28=0?

0 votes

Finals are coming up and the last thing we learned was factoring quadratic equations. The =0 confuses me and I am unsure what to do. How do I graph this equation? Thank you!

Given equation is 6x + 4y + 28 = 0.

Write the equation in slope-intercept form y = mx + b, where m is slope and b is y-intercept.

The equation is 6x + 4y + 28 = 0

4y = - 6x - 28

y = (- 6/4)x - (28/4)

y = ( - 3/2)x - 7.

Compare the equation with slope-intercept form y = mx + b.

Slope = - 3/2 and y - intercept is - 7.

y - intercept is - 7, so the line crosses the y - axis at (0, - 7)

Using slope find the next point.

Slope = rise/run = - 3/2

Start at point (0, - 7), move 3 units down and 2 units right, then plot the point (2, - 10).

Draw a line through these points.

graph for the equation - x - 2y = 8
