The equation xy4 + x2 y = x + 3y

Differentiate implicitly.

(4xy3y' + y4 ) + (x2y' + 2yx) = 1 + 3y'

4xy3y' + x2y' - 3y' = 1 - 2xy - y4

y'(4xy3 + x2 - 3) = 1 - 2xy - y4

y' = (1 - 2xy - y4)/(4xy3 + x2 - 3).
