Spring stretching distance x = 0.139 m

Force constant k = 9.1 N/m

Formula of Work  in spring W = - ½ kx²

W = - ½ (9.1)(0.139)²

W = - 0.0879 J

Negative symbol indicates that the spring force will always be in the opposite direction from the stretch or compression.

Solution : Work required to stretch spring is " - 0.0879 J ".
