Converting a Recipe

In this assignment, you will be using a recipe of your choosing and using ratios to convert the recipe to make enough for 50 people.

Step 1: Choose a recipe that has at least 4 ingredients.
Step 2: List all the ingredients and the amount of each ingredient in the recipe.  Also list the number of servings it makes.  You do not need to list the directions, only the ingredients.
Step 3: Choose at least four of the ingredients to convert.  For each ingredient, set up a proportion that will find the amount needed of that ingredient to make a recipe for 50 servings.  Showing all work, find the amount of each of the four ingredients you chose.

Ingredients
  • 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter
  • 3/4 cup packed dark brown sugar
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • 1 (12-ounce) bag semisweet chocolate chips, or chunks
  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 3/4 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon fine salt

Consider the ingredients required to make cookies.

image cups of all-purpose flour.

image teaspoon of baking soda.

image stick of unsalted butter.

image cup of dark brown sugar.

image Large eggs.

image teaspoon of pure vanilla extract.

image teaspoon of fine salt.

Assume this makes 20 servings of cookies.

Step 2:

Find the amount of ingredient required for 50 servings.

Set up a proportion for each ingredient.

Consider image cups of all-purpose flour.

image

5.625 cups of all-purpose flour.

Consider image teaspoon of baking soda.

image

1.875 teaspoon of baking soda.

Consider image sticks of unsalted butter.

image

1.25 sticks of unsalted butter.

Consider image cup of dark brown sugar.

1.875 cup of dark brown sugar.

Consider image Large eggs.

image

5 Large eggs.

Consider image teaspoon of pure vanilla extract.

image

2.5 teaspoon of pure vanilla extract.

Consider image teaspoon of salt.
