Given quadratic

kx^2-17x+33=0

Substitute 3 for x.

k(3)^2-17(3)+33=0

9k-51+33=0

 9k=18.

k=2

Calculate the other root.

2x^2-17x+33=0

 2x^2-6x-11x+33=0 .

 2x(x-3)-11(x-3)=0

(x-3)(2x-11)=0

x-3=0

x=3

2x-11=0

 2x=11

x=11/2

Thus, the another root is 11/2
