x  =  -2y - 3  =====>  x + 2y  =  -3  -------------> (1)

8y - 4x  =  - 2 ====>  -4x + 8y  =  - 2 ---------------> (2)

Mutiply Eq (1) with 2 and add to Eq (2)

Eq (1) X 4  ======>   4x + 8y  =  - 12

Eq (1)  =========>  -4x + 8y  =  -  2

                               -----------------------------

                                           16y  =  - 14

                                               y  =  - 14/16

                                               y  =  - 7/8

Substitute y = -7/8 in Eq (1)

x + 2(-7/8)  =  -3

x - 14/8  =  -3

x  =  -3 + (14/8)

x  =  (-24 + 14)/8

x  =  (-10)/8

x  =  - 5/4

Answer :

The Solutions are x  =  - 5/4  and  y = -7 /8.
