Given 6=(x-1)^2

6 = (x-1) ^2                                    ( a-b)^2 = a^2+b^2 - 2ab )

6 = x^2 + 1^2  - 2 (x) (1)

6 = x^2 +  1 - 2x

Subtract 6 from each side

6-6 = x^2 -2x +1-6

0 = x^2 -2x -5

x^2 -2x -5 = 0------------(1)

Quaratic form ax^2 + bx + c =0--------(2)

From (1) and (2) comaring elements

b = -2
