Given equations are 2x+5y = 3   ----------> (1)

5x-3y = 23 ------------> (2)

Add the equations.

2x+5y = 3

5x-3y = 23

_________

7x+2y = 26

Subtract 2y from each side.

7x+2y-2y = 26-2y

7x = 26-2y

Divide to each side by 7.

7x/7 = (26-2y)/7

Solution x = 26/7-2y/7
