Substitution method

Given equations are 2x+5y = 2 and -3x-y = -3

-3x-y = -3

Add 3x to each side.

-y = 3x-3

Multiple to each side by negitive one.

y = -3x+3

Substitute y value in 2x+5y = 2.

2x-15x+15 = 2

-13x = 2-15

-13x = -13

Divide to each side by negitive 13.

x = 1

Substitute x value in 2x+5y = 2

2+5y = 2

2-2+5y = 2-2

5y = 0

Divide to each side by 5.

y = 0

Solution x = 1, y = 0
