Elimination method

4x+3y = -45.5 ---> (1)

Multple to each side by 8.

32x+24y = -364 ---> (3)

-5x+8y = -43 ---> (2)

Multple to each side by -3.

15x-24y = 129 ---> (4)

To eliminate the y value add the equations (3)&(4).

32x+24y = -364

15x-24y = 129

______________

47x = -235

Divide to each side by 47.

x = -5

Substitute the x value in (2).

25+8y = -43

8y = -68

Divide to each side by 8.

y = -8.5

Solution x = -5,y = -8.5.
