Elimination method

Given first equation 6y - 4x = 32 ---> (1)

Given secon equation -y + x  = -7

Multiply each side by 6.

-6y + 6 = -42 ---> (2)

To eliminate the y  value add the equations (1)&(2).

6y - 4x  = 32

-6y + 6x  = -42

____________________

2x  = -10

Divide each side by 2.

x  = -5

Substitute the x  value in equation (1).

6y + 20 = 32

Subtract 20 from each side.

6y  = 12

Divide each side by 6.

y  = 2

Solution x  = -5 and y  = 2.

Check :

Substitute the x , y  values in equation (1).

6y - 4x = 32

6(2) - 4(-5) = 32

12 + 20 = 32

32 = 32.
