how do u solve each inequality and graph on a number line in this problem??

The inequality is 4x + 7 < x - 8.

Subtract x from each side.

4x + 7 - x < x - 8 - x

Group like terms.

3x + 7 < - 8

Subtract 7 from each side.

3x + 7 - 7 < - 8 - 7

3x < - 15

Divide each side by 3.

3x/3< - 15/3

cancel common terms.

x < - 5.

The solution set of the inequality is {x / x < - 5}.
