A) The expression is 12 + y.

Apply Commutative Property of Addition: a + b = b + a.

= y + 12

The equivalent expression is y + 12.

B) The expression is 5/6.

Apply Identity Property of Multiplication: a * 1 = a.

= (5/6)*1

= (5/6)*(4/4)                   [Since 1 = 4/4 (given)]

= (5*4) / (6*4)

= 20 / 24

The equivalent expression is 20 / 24.
