Mass of the spring ,m= 0.8 kg

Stretch of the spring when spring in equillibrium , y = 3 cm = 0.03 m

Acceleration due to gravity, g = 9.81 m/s²

At equillibrium

Calculate the spring constant:

W = ky

k = W/y

   = mg/y

   =(0.8)(9.81)/0.03

   = 261.3 N/m

--------------------------------------

Calculate the period of oscillation.

T=2π/ω

Here ω = √(k/m)

           =√(261.3/0.8)

           = 18.08 rad/s

T=2π/ω

  =2π/18.08

  = 0.3147 s
