(1).

In a parallelogram, the opposite sides are equal.

In a ABCD parallelogram, AB = CD and AD = BC.

Therefore, 5x - 2y = 4 and y = 5 - x.

Substitute y = 5 - x in the first equation: 5x - 2y = 4.

5x - 2(5-x) = 4

5x - 10 + 2x = 4

7x - 10 = 4

7x = 14

x = 2

Substitute x = 2 in the second equation: y = 5 - x.

y = 5 - 2 = 3

The values of x = 2 and y = 3.

(2).

In a rectangle, the opposite sides are equal.

In a ABCD rectangle, AB = CD and AD = BC.

Therefore, 2x = 3y+5 and x = 2y+2.

Substitute x = 2y+2 in the equation 1: 2x = 3y+5.

2(2y+2) = 3y+5

4y+4 = 3y+5

y+4 = 5

y = 1

Substitute y = 1 in the equation 2: x = 2y+2.

x = 2(1)+2 = 4

The values of x = 4 and y = 1.
