Given function : f(x) = x² - 4/x

f(x) = x² - 4/x

Apply derivative with respect to x both sides.

(d/dx)f(x) = (d/dx) ( x² - 4/x)

= (d/dx) x² -4 (d/dx) (1/x)

Use formulas : (d/dx) x² = 2x ; (d/dx) (1/x) = -1/x²

= 2x - 4 (-1/x²)

= 2x + ( 4 / x² )

Solution :

(d/dx)(x² - 4/x) = 2x + (4 / x²)
