Let the length of the rectangle be l = 2in

Let the perimeter of the rectangle be P = 10in

But perimeter of the rectangle P = 2(l + b) where l = length and b = breadth

P = 2(l + b)

    10 = 2(2 + b)

    10 = 4 + 2b

    8 = 2b             [Subtracting by 4 on both sides]

b = 4               [Dividing by 2 on both sides]

Breadth of the rectangle = 4in

Area of a rectangle A = l*b square units

                                           = (2in)(4in)

                                           = 8in^2

Area of a rectangle A = 8in^2.

Calculate perimeter of the rectangle by using the formula : P = 2(l + b), where l = length and b = breadth.

P = 10 inches and l = 2 inches.

10 = 2(2 + b)

5 = 2 + b

3 = b.

Area :  A = l * b = 2 * 3 = 6 square inches.
