5 x +  y  =  − 53  

3 x −  y  =  5

The system of Equations

5 x +  y  =  − 53  -----------------> (1)

3 x −  y  =  5 ---------------------> (2)

Add both the equations (1) & (2)

5 x +  y  =  − 53

3 x −  y  =     5 

(+)    (+)    (+)

----------------------

8x + 0  =  -48

8x  =  -48

x  =  -48 / 8

x  =  -6.

Answer :

The value of x  is  -6.
