Given that equation of line is y = (1/2)x + 4

Given that equation of line is passing through points ( -6 , 3)

Given that required line equation is parallel to the given line

The line equation is in the form of y = m x + c

Here slope m = 1/2

Parallel line equation means slopes are equal

Substitute given points in the line equation

y = m x + c

3 = (1/2) (-6) + c

3 = (-3) + c

c = 6

Therefore the required parallel line equation is y = (1/2) x + 6

Write an equation of the line that passes through the
given point and is parallel to the given line.

(-6,3);y=(1/2)x+4

Step 1. First find the slope of the line.

y=(1/2)x+1

slope m =(1/2)

Paralel lines has same slope. So, parallel line equation slope is 1/2

Step 2. Next find the y - intercept.

 y -intercept value (b) value can be found by replacing the x and y coordinate values in the equation with the given point (-6,3)

 y = (1/2)x + b

3 = 1/2 * -6 + b

3 = -3  + b

Add 3 to each side

 3+3 = -3  + b+3

  b= 6

Step 3. Write the final line equation

 Replace m = 1/2 and b =6 in slope-intercept form line equation y = mx + b

 y =(1/2) x + 6.
