Given inequality is 2(-w-8)+9 > -17

-2w-16+9 > -17

-2w-7 > -17

Add 7 to each side.

-2w-7+7 > -17+7

-2w > -10

Divide to each side by negitive 2 and change the symbol.

w < 5
