Given equations are -5x-y = -11 and 2x-y = 10

-5x-y = -11

Add 5x to each side.

-y = 5x-11

Multiple to each side by negitive one.

y = -5x+11

Second equation 2x-y = 10

Subtract 2x from each side.

-y = -2x+10

Multiple to each side by negitive one.

y = 2x-10

Graph

Draw the coordinate plane.

Draw the lines.

From the graph we can observe solution of equations is x = 3, y = -4.

The system of equations are - 5x - y = - 11 and 2x - y = 10.

Write the equations in slope - intercept form : y = mx + b, where m is slope and b is y - intercept.

The first equation is - 5x - y = - 11.

- y = 5x - 11

y = (- 5)x + 11.

Compare the equation with slope - intercept form : y = mx + b.

slope = - 5 and y - intercept is 11.

y - intercept is 11, so the line crosses the y - axis at (0, 11).

Using slope find the next point.

Slope = rise/run = - 5/1

Start at point (0, 11), move 5 units down and 1unit right, then plot the point (1, 6).

The second equation is 2x - y = 10.

- y = - 2x + 10

y = 2x - 10.

Compare the equation with slope - intercept form : y = mx + b.

slope = 2 and y - intercept is - 10.

y - intercept is - 10, so the line crosses the y - axis at (0, - 10)

Using slope find the next point.

Slope = rise/run = 2/1

Start at point (0, - 10), move 2 units up and 1 unit right, then plot the point (1, - 8).

Draw the lines through these points.

Graph :

graph for the equation - x - 2y = 8

Observe the graph, the solution of the system (x, y ) = (3, - 4).
