2/5 (x+3) = x/2 - 5/2

Distribute terms using distributive property:  a( b + c) = ab + ac

2x/5 + 6/5 = x/2 - 5/2

Subtract 2x/5 from each side.

6/5 = x/2 - 5/2 - 2x/5

Add 5/2 to each side.

6/5 + 5/2 = x/2 - 2x/5

Rewrite the expression with common denominator.

(12 + 25)/10 = (5x - 4x)/10

Multiply each side by 10.

37 = x

Therefore x = 37.
