A ferris wheel has a diameter of 100 ft. The passangers ride in cars that make 5 revolutions in 7.5 minutes. Approximately how far does a car on the ferris wheel travel in 1 minute? 

A. 209 ft 
B. 418 ft 
C. 471 ft 
D. 942 ft

5 revolutions in 7.5 minutes

revolutions in 1 minute.

x  = 5/7.5

= 1/1.5

x  = 0.666

0.666 revolutions per minute.

So one complete revolution is when the ferris wheel travels it's own circumference.

So the distance would be equilent to 0.666 of a circumference.

Circumference of the circle C = pi*d

Diameter of the ferris wheel 100ft.

d = 100ft, pi = 3.14

Circumference of the wheel C = 3.14 * 100 = 314ft

0.666 of 314 = 209.12

Approximately the ferris wheel travels 209 ft in 1 minute.

Option A is correct choice.
