Let y=2t + 5 be a linear function representing the distance from home for an ant minutes after starting out from a location near its home. What does the number 5 represent in this function?

A.) The ant started out 5 feet from its home

B.) The ant is moving 5 feet per minute

C.) The ant is moving 5 feet from its home after t minutes

D.) The ant is moving 5 feet every two minutes

y = 2t +5

Here, y means the distance the ant is away from its home, t means the elapsed time in minutes. 

"2" is  the ant's speed

"5" is the initial distance the ant was away from its home when the clock started.

So option A is correct
