Rewrite the above equation

2x + 11y  =  9 ----------------------------> (1)

4x - 8y  =  0 -------------------------> (2)

Multiply Eq (1) with 2 and Subtract Eq (2) from it

Eq (1) X 2 =====>  4x + 22y  =  18

Eq (2) ========>  4x  -  8y   =    0

                                       30y  =  18

                                           y  =  18/30

                                           y  =  3/5

Substitute y = 3/5 in Eq (1)

4x - 8(3/5)  =  0

4x - 24/5  =  0

4x  =  24/5

x  =  24 / (5 X 4)

x  =  6/5

Answer :

The solutions are   =  6/5 and y = 3/5.
