The equation is -7 (9r+3) + 8 (10r +8).

Apply distributive property: a (b + c) = ab + ac.

-63 r - 21 + 80r + 64 = 0

17r + 43 = 0

Subtract 43 from each side.

17 r  = - 43

Divide each side by 17.

r = - 43/17.

Check:-

To check the solution, substitute the value of r = - 43/17 in the original equation.

-7 (9 (-43/17)+3) + 8 (10(-43/17/) +8) = 0

-7 ((-387/17)+3) + 8 ((-430/17/) +8) = 0

-7 (-336/17) + 8 (-294/17) = 0

2352/17 - 2352/17 = 0

0 = 0

The above statement is true, so the value of r = - 43/17 is the solution of the original equation.
