The inequality is 10 + (3/4)a ≤ (- 7/8)a + 5

Add ( 7/8)a to each side.

10 + (3/4)a + ( 7/8)a ≤ (- 7/8)a + 5 + ( 7/8)a

10 + (3/4)a + ( 7/8)a ≤ 5

Subtract 10 from each side.

10 + (3/4)a + ( 7/8)a - 10 ≤ 5 - 10

(3/4)a + ( 7/8)a  ≤ - 5

[(3/4) + ( 7/8)]a ≤ - 5

Apply L.C.M rule : 1/a + 1/b = (b + a)/ab.

(13/8)a ≤ - 5

Divide each side by (13/8).

a ≤ [- 5/(13/8)]

a ≤ - 40/13.

Solution set is {a / a : a ≤ - 40/13}.
