Twice one number is equal to 1 more than a second number. The sum of the numbers is 5. Find the numbers.

Let the numbers be x and y.

Twice one number is 2x and 1 more than a second number is 1 + y.

Therefore the condition is image -> (1)

Substitute (3) in (1) we get,
