The expressions are (x + 1)^2 and (x - 4)^2.

(x + 1)^2 = x^2 + 2x + 1 and           [ (a + b)^2 = a^2 + 2ab + b^2 ]

(x - 4)^2 = x^2 - 8x + 16.                  [ (a - b)^2 = a^2 - 2ab + b^2 ]
