The function f(x) = 3x - 1.

To find the function f(2x), substitute the value of x = 2x in the original function.

f(2x) = 3(2x) - 1 = 6x - 1.

To find the function f(x + 1), substitute the value of x = x + 1 in the original function.

f(x + 1) = 3(x + 1) - 1 = 3x + 3 - 1 = 3x + 2.

f(2x) = f(x + 1)

6x - 1 = 3x + 2

Add 1 to each side.

6x - 1 + 1 = 3x + 2 + 1

6x = 3x + 3

Subtract 3x from each side.

6x - 3x = 3x + 3 - 3x

3x = 3

Divide each side by 3.

x = 1.

The value of x = 1.
