The equations are image

.Step1:

Multiply atlest one equation by a constant to get two equations that contain opposite terms.

image

Step2:

Add the equations, to elimiinate one variable.

image

19x = 57

x = 57/19 = 3.

Step3:

Subtitute the value in any one of the equations to solve other variable.

Take the equation 5x - 2y = 11.

Substitute x = 3 we get,

5(3) - 2y = 11

15 - 2y = 11

Subtract 15 from each side.

15 - 2y - 15 = 11 - 15

Apply Commutative Law of addition: a + b = b+ a.

 - 2y + 15 - 15 = 11 - 15

 - 2y + 0 = -4

Divide each side by -2.

- 2y / -2 = -4 / -2

y = 2

The solution is (3,2).
