The equation is 6y2 - 12y - 10 = 0.

6y2 - 12y - 10 = 0, is a quadratic, use quadratic formula to find the roots of the related quadratic equation.

Solution of the quadratic equation : x = [- b ± √(b2 - 4ac)]/2a.

Compare the given equation with standard form of the quadratic equation ax2 + bx + c = 0.

a = 6, b = - 12 and c = - 10.

Solution : y = [- (- 12) ± √((- 12)2 - (4*6*(-10)))]/2*6

= [12 ± √(144 + 240)]/12

= [12 ± √384]/12

= [12 ± √(64*6)]/12

= [12 ± 8√6]/12

= [3 ± 2√6]/3

The solutions are y = (3 + 2√6)/3 and y = (3 - 2√6)/3.
