The equation 4x + 2x+2 = 8

(22)x + 2x 22 = 8

Apply the formula am + an = am+n

(am)n = amn

22x + 2x (4) = 8

(2x)2 + 2x (4) - 8 = 0

Let 2x = X

Now the equation becomes X2 + 4X - 8 = 0

Compare it to quadratic form

Consider x = 1.46

2x = 1.46

log(2x ) = log(1.46)

x log (2) = log(1.46)

x = log(1.46)/log(2)

x = 0.5459.

Solution x = 0.5459.
