The angle of depression is 7° .

The height of the 650 m above ground .

Let the horizontal distance between plane and boat is x .


From the figure tan ϴ = opposite side length / adjacent side length 

                      tan 7 =  650 / x     

                ⇒ x = 650 /  tan 7  = 650 / 0.122 = 5293.825 m

So the horizontal distance between plane and boat is 5293.825 m .

The angle of depression is 35° .

The height of the cliff is 175 cm above ground .

Let the distance between base of cliff to boat is x .

From the figure tan ϴ = opposite side length / adjacent side length 

                      tan 35 =  175 / x     

                ⇒ x = 175 /  tan 35  = 175 / 0.7002 = 249.92 cm

So the distance between base of cliff to boat is  249.92 cm .
