The expression is (u - 4)(u + 8)

FOIL method: the product of two binomials is the sum of the products of the First terms, the Outer terms, the Inner terms and the Last terms.

First term - multiply first terms in the parenthesis = u * u = u²

Outer term - multiply the two terms on the outside = u * 8 = 8u

Inner term - multiply the two inside terms = -4 * u = -4u

Last term - multiply the last terms in the parenthesis = -4 * 8 = -32

Foil Method is sum of all = u² + 8u - 4u -32

(u - 4)(u + 8)  = u² + 4u - 32

Therefore (u - 4)(u + 8)  = u² + 4u - 32.
