(a) Find a nonzero vector orthogonal to the plane through the points P, Q, and R.


(b) Find the area of the triangle PQR.

Step 1:

The points on the plane are image.

(a)

The points image are lies on the plane then their vectors image are lies on the same plane.

If image are the two points then the component form  of vector  image is

From geometric properties of the cross product, image is orthogonal to both image.

Then image is orthogonal to plane passing through the points image.

Step 2:

(b)

Find area of the triangle image.

If image are the adjacent sides of the triangle then the area of the triangle is image.

The area of the triangle is image.

Solution :

(a) imageis a non-zero vector orthogonal to plane passing through the points image.

(b) The area of the triangle is image.
