The absolute value equation

2 | x - 1 | + 2  =  6

2 | x - 1 |  =  6 - 2

2 | x - 1 |  =  4

| x - 1 |  =  4 / 2

| x - 1 |  =  2

(x - 1)  =  2        ;       (x - 1)  =  - 2

x  =  2 + 1          ;       x  =  - 2 + 1

x  =  3               ;       x  =  - 1

Answer :

x  =  3               ;       x  =  - 1
