Given that 2x - y = 3 -->`(1)

x + y = 3 -->(2)

Add equation 1 and 2

2x - y = 3

x + y = 3

-------------

3x =    6

x = 6/3

x = 2

Substitute x = 2 in equation (2)

x + y = 3

2 + y = 3

y = 3 - 2

y = 1

Therefore (x , y) =(2 , 1)
