Line equation through the two points is y-y1 = [(y2-y1)/x2-x1)](x-x1)

Say the points (x1,y1) = (2,1)

(x2,y2) = (4,0)

y-1 = [(0-1)/(4-2)](x-2)

y-1 = -1/2(x-2)

Cross multilication.

2(y-1) = -1(x-2)

2y-2 = -x+2

Add 2 to each side.

2y-2+2 = -x+2+2

2y = -x+4

Divide to each side by 2.

2y/2 = -x/2+4/2

y = -x/2+2

Compare it slope intercept form of a line is y = mx+b.

Slope is -1/2 and y intercept is 2.
