Elimination method

2a+9b = 52 --------> (1)

-2a+b = 8 -----------> (2)

To eliminate the a value , add the equations (1) and(2).

2a+9b = 52

-2a+b = 8

__________

10b = 60

Divide to each side by 10.

10b/10 = 60/10

b = 6

Substitute the b value in equation (1).

2a+9*6 = 52

2a+54 = 52

Subtract to each side by 54.

2a+54-54 = 52-54

2a = -2

Divide to each side by 2.

2a/2 = -2/2

a = -1

The solution is (a,b) = (-1, 6)
