Elimination method

x-5y = 0

multiple to each side to above equation by 2

2x-10y = 0 ---------> (1)

2x-3y = 7-----------> (2)

To eliminate the x value subtract equation (2) from equation (1).

2x-3y = 7

2x-10y =0

(-)  (+)

_________

7y = 7

Divide to each side by 7.

7y/7 = 7/7

y = 1

Substitute the y value in (1).

2x-10 = 0

Add 10 to each side.

2x-10+10= 0+10

2x = 10

Divide to each side by 2.

2x/2 = 10/2

x = 5

Solution x =5, y =1.
