Elimination method

Given eqution x+2y = 10

Multiple to each side by negitive  2.

-2x-4y = -20 ---------> (1)

And 2x+3y = 16 ---------> (2)

To eliminate the x value add the equations (1) and (2).

-2x-4y = -20

2x+3y = 16

_________

-y = -4

Multiple to each side by negitive one.

y = 4

Substitute the y value in (2).

2x+3*4 = 16

2x+12 = 16

Subtract 12 to each side.

2x+12-12 = 16-12

2x = 4

Divide to each side by 2.

2x/2 = 4/2

x = 2

Solution x = 2, y = 4.
