Given trinomial is 2y^2+36y-80

Take common out 2 from above trinomial.

2(y^2+18y-40)

Now factorise the y^2+18y-40

= y^2+20y-2y-40

= y(y+20)-2(y+20)

= (y+20)(y-2)

Factoring of given trinomial is 2(y+20)(y-2) = (2y+40)(y-2)
