Given equation x^2+3 = -4x

Add 4x to each side.

x^2+4x+3 = 0

Compare it to quadratic form ax^2+bx+c = 0

a = 1, b = 4, c = 3

Roots are x = [-b±√(b^2-4ac)]/2a

x = [-4±√(16-12)/2

x = [-4±√4]/2

x = [-4±2]/2

x = [-4+2]/2 and x = [-4-2]/2

x = -1 and x = -3

Solutions x = -1 and x = -3.
