x^2+5x-2 < 0

Firstly let us find where it is equal to zero.

x^2+5x-2 = 0

Compare quadratic equation ax^2+bx+c = 0

a = 1, b = 5, c = -2

x = [-b±√(b^2-4ac)]/2a

x = [-5±√(25+8)]/2

x = [-5±√33]/2

x = [-5±5.74]/2

x = [-5+5.74]/2 and x = [-5-5.74]/2

x = 0.74/2 and x = -10.74/2

x = 0.37 and x = -5.37

x^2+5x-2 < 0 in the interval (-5.37,0.37)
